PETG is a robust plastic widely used in 3D printing. It combines strength with slight flexibility and is resistant to moisture.
In everyday camper use, PETG is particularly suitable for interior components where durability, dimensional stability and practicality matter.
Typical properties of PETG:
• strong and tough
• moisture-resistant
• well suited to vehicle interiors
ASA is an engineering plastic developed for higher loads. It is heat-resistant and UV-stable, so it retains its shape even in direct sunlight.
ASA is particularly suitable for components exposed to high temperatures or sunlight in and around the vehicle – for example outdoors or in areas that become very hot.
Typical properties of ASA:
• UV-resistant
• heat-resistant
• suitable for outdoor use
TPU ist ein flexibler, gummiartiger Kunststoff, der sich verformen lässt und danach wieder in seine ursprüngliche Form zurückkehrt. Im Gegensatz zu starren Kunststoffen ist TPU elastisch, rutschfest und stoßdämpfend.
TPU eignet sich besonders für Bauteile, bei denen Beweglichkeit, Flexibilität oder Vibrationsdämpfung gefragt sind – zum Beispiel als Schutz, Puffer oder flexible Halterung im Fahrzeug.
Typische Eigenschaften von TPU:
- flexibel und elastisch
- stoß- und vibrationsdämpfend
- rutschfest
- bruchfest bei Verformung
- formstabil bei normaler Fahrzeugnutzung
Das passende Material hängt davon ab, wo und wie das Bauteil eingesetzt wird.
Für viele Anwendungen im Innenraum ist PETG vollkommen ausreichend.
In Bereichen mit starker Sonneneinstrahlung oder höheren Temperaturen kommt ASA zum Einsatz.
Bauteile, die flexibel, rutschfest oder vibrationsdämpfend sein sollen, werden aus TPU gefertigt.
In der jeweiligen Produktbeschreibung ist angegeben, welches Material verwendet wird und für welchen Einsatzzweck es vorgesehen ist.
Die Auswahl der Materialien erfolgt bewusst. PETG, ASA und TPU haben sich im Camper-Alltag als zuverlässig, langlebig und praxistauglich erwiesen.
Andere Kunststoffe bieten für die vorgesehenen Einsatzzwecke keinen relevanten zusätzlichen Vorteil oder bringen Nachteile bei Haltbarkeit, Temperaturbeständigkeit oder Alltagstauglichkeit mit sich.
